New Online Course- Harassment Prevention & Response, Coming Mar. 5, 2018 (March 2, 2018)

March 02, 2018

The new online course for UI employees, Harassment Prevention & Response, will be available to campus by noon on Mon., Mar. 5, 2018. Through narratives and immersive interactions, the new digital learning course from EverFi, engages employees and raises their awareness about harassment and discrimination by explaining the law, as well as how to recognize harassment and discrimination, and report misconduct to the appropriate person. The course provides practical tips on helping maintain a safe, inclusive environment for work, including safe and positive options for bystander intervention, advice on using inclusive language in the workplace, and information on micro aggressions.

A new imbedded module on Protecting Students educates employees on how to identify and report sexual and interpersonal misconduct against students, covering awareness and prevention subjects required by the Campus SaVE Act and Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972.

The university also developed a UI-specific module as part of its Harassment Prevention and Response course, to provide ready access to UI policies and resources for responding to reported acts of discrimination, harassment, sexual misconduct, dating/domestic violence, and stalking.

The online course will be available to all employees via the university’s Compliance & Qualifications (CQ) System. Employees may complete this course even if it has not been formally been assigned to them.

As in the past, there are two online modules available, one for Academic/Administrative Officers (AAOs)/Supervisors and one for non-Academic/Administrative Officers (AAOs)/non-Supervisors. The two courses are estimated to take between 2 to 2+ hours to complete, therefore, we recommend employees work on these online course over multiple sessions.

The online courses are delivered through the university’s learning management system (ICON); therefore, the Compliance and Qualifications and My Training systems will process and show completions within 24 hours of ICON course completion.

Tech support for the new online courses is provided by the ITS Help Desk:

Phone: 319-384-HELP (4357)

Employees may continue to choose from online and instructor-led courses to satisfy the required educational mandate. The instructor-led courses are offered through UI Learning & Development and UI Health Care Human Resources.
