Quarterly Sexual Harassment Prevention Education (SHPE) Deadline is Approaching- Mar. 31, 2016 (March 9, 2016)

The online sexual harassment prevention education (SHPE) course completions have been uploaded to HRIS through Mon., Feb. 29, 2016.

To assist the university in reaching 100% compliance by the quarterly deadline (3/31/2016), please strongly encourage your faculty and staff who are due to complete an approved SHPE course this quarter to do so ASAP and no later than Wed., Mar. 30, 2016. We are currently at 93.1% compliance campus-wide and have over 1,270 individuals remaining who need to complete an approved SHPE course before the quarterly deadline.

The data upload schedule for the SHPE online courses during Mar. 2016 is as follows:

Weekly SHPE uploads will be sent to IM-HR on:
Monday mornings (3/7, 3/14, 3/21, 3/28)
+ extra uploads will be sent on:
Tue., 3/1
Wed. 3/16
Wed. 3/23
Tue., 3/29
Wed. 3/30
Thur. 3/31
Fri. 4/1

To review the most current data on SHPE completions, please run your compliance reports after 12:00PM on the dates listed above.

Run the SH Training Due this Quarter report in HR Training Reports to identify which of your faculty and staff still need to complete a SHPE course this quarter.

Additional Reminders:

  1. Please direct your employees to sign up for an online or instructor-led course through Self Service. Instructions on how to sign up/complete one of the approved SHPE courses is available on EOD’s website at: http://diversity.uiowa.edu/programs/sexual-harassment-prevention-education
  2. The online SHPE course does not generate a certificate of completion.
  3. Most employees receive an email upon completion of the online SHPE course. This preliminary confirmation of online course completion email comes from preventing-harassment@uiowa.edu. Due to how their email accounts are set up, and the spam filters they may have in place, the preliminary confirmation email for some employees may be sent to their “Junk” mail folder instead of their “Inbox” folder.
  4. IM-HR will typically upload the online course completion data by noon on the dates listed above.
  5. You can verify if the online course completion has loaded for an employee by running one of the following reports:
    1. Brightline, Clarity & Skillsoft by Employee or
    2. SH Training Due this Quarter
  6. Requests for an SHPE exemption for this quarter must be sent to EOD by a senior HR leadership representative no later than Wed., Mar. 23. Exemptions requests may be considered for persons on an extended leave (e.g., persons on extended FMLA or unpaid leave).

Jennifer has worked at the University of Iowa’s Equal Opportunity and Diversity office since 1992.  Prior to her appointment as director of the office in 2007, she served as its director of campus relations. 

A native of California, Jennifer received a bachelor of arts degree (with honors) in political science from the University of California, Berkeley.  Jennifer spent a year abroad in Italy as an undergraduate, studying Italian language/culture at the University for Foreigners in Perugia and studying political science and economics at the University of Padova, Italy.
