Special Advisory- Temporary Outage of Online Harassment Prevention Education Courses (February 1, 2018)

The university’s contract with its former online harassment prevention education provider, Navex Global, ended on Wed., Jan. 31, 2018. Effective Feb. 1, 2018, university employees are no longer able to access the following online courses: Preventing Harassment on Campus- Supervisory Faculty and Staff 2nd Edition- 2015-2017 and Preventing Harassment on Campus- Non-Supervisory Faculty and Staff 2nd Edition- 2015-2017.

The university is implementing a new online harassment prevention course from a different provider, with an estimated launch date of Thur., Mar. 1, 2018.

The university continues to offer instructor-led courses through UI Learning & Development and UI Health Care Human Resources. More information on the instructor-led courses is available from EOD’s website and from UI Health Care, Faculty & Staff New Hire Orientation’s website. To enroll in an instructor-led course, visit Employee Self Service, Personal Tab, Sexual Harassment Prevention Edu, Instructor Led Classes.

Extensions of Due Dates for Selected Employees:

If Due on or before Jan. 31, 2018: Employees who had a due date on or before Jan. 31, 2018 for this compliance will receive an extension of their due date until Mar. 31, 2018. These employees should plan to attend an instructor-led program during February or March 2018. Those who are unable to attend an instructor-led course should complete the new online course when it becomes available in March 2018.

If Due Feb. 1 – Mar. 31, 2018: Employees with due dates between Feb. 1 and Mar. 31, 2018 for this compliance will receive an extension of their due date until April 30, 2018. These employees may also attend an instructor-led course during Feb., March, or April.

Jennifer Modestou

Jennifer has worked at the University of Iowa’s Equal Opportunity and Diversity office since 1992.  Prior to her appointment as director of the office in 2007, she served as its director of campus relations. 

A native of California, Jennifer received a bachelor of arts degree (with honors) in political science from the University of California, Berkeley.  Jennifer spent a year abroad in Italy as an undergraduate, studying Italian language/culture at the University for Foreigners in Perugia and studying political science and economics at the University of Padova, Italy.
