Student Legal Services (SLS) provides high quality, free advice and affordable legal representation for currently enrolled University of Iowa students. SLS can be a resource for name changes and birth certificate changes, and can help orient people on where to start if they feel they have been the victim of discrimination.

Student Care & Assistance
Student Care & Assistance in the Office of the Dean of Students offers care, support, and advocacy during times of personal struggles, crises, or emergencies. Student Care & Assistance will discuss options for addressing concerns and connect students to resources as needed. Students who experience concerns, harassment, or bullying behavior as a result of other individuals or groups will receive support and options to ensure the issues are handled efficiently and effectively.

Iowa City Resources
United Action for Youth GLBTQA Youth Group
The GLBTQA Youth Group at United Action for Youth is a casual group for youth ages 12-18 to hang out and to connect to their peers in a setting that affirms their sexual orientation and gender identity.
Trans*Verse
A support group for trans people and their allies. They work to extend across feelings of isolation and confusion to the connections that can grow through community. Information about meetings can be found in their Facebook group.
Queer Health Advocacy
Queer Health Advocates are trained volunteers who accompany and advocate for members of the community who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, intersex, asexual, aromantic, queer, or questioning during medical appointments.
The Quire
This GLBT community chorus performs in and around Iowa City.
Emma Goldman Clinic
This clinic welcomes LGBTQ+ students to seek medical advice and assistance there.
TransVerse
TransVerse is a community support group for trans people and their allies.

The mission of the Queer Campus Coalition created by Iowa Safe Schools is to support LGBTQ students pursuing post-secondary education in Iowa. By communicating, growing, and advocating together, we can make institutional changes that lead to better and safer worlds for all students.
