International Entrepreneurship Summit
The International Entrepreneurship Summit presented by the Institute for International Business will be Haiti-focused and include speakers, a board panel, and breakout groups. The event brings together prominent speakers and experts from different parts of the world to showcase the entrepreneurial opportunities that exist in their countries or their region of the world to Iowa companies, organizations, and entrepreneurs.
LUNCHEON & BREAKOUT SESSIONS
Hilton Garden Inn, 328 S Clinton St, Iowa City
12:30-2:00 pm: Lunch with a keynote speech by Georgette Jean-Louis, a board member and director general of Central Bank of Haiti.
2:15-4:25 pm: Rotating breakout sessions with Haitian entrepreneurs, Iowa non-profits, and businesses. Each breakout session will last one hour. Participants will have 10 minutes to rotate from one breakout session to the other.
2:15-3: 15 pm: Safe T Home & Sukup’s Entrepreneurship Initiatives in Haiti
Representatives from Sukup will host a breakout session on their entrepreneurship initiatives in Haiti and their Safe T Home. Since 2010, Sukup has been manufacturing the Safe T Home, which is found in Haiti, some African countries, and Peru.
3:25- 4:25 pm: Best Practices for Sustainable Involvements in Haiti
A panel on refocusing churches, non-profits, and philanthropic interventions in Haiti to more sustainable approaches using entrepreneurship and supporting local goals and objectives. The panel includes:
- Tim Dwight: Former NFL & Iowa football player
- Dumas M. Siméus: Successful Haitian-American entrepreneur
- Tony Bedard: CEO of Frontier Co-op
- Mike Lass: President of J.H. Laas Company

The reception will be held in collaboration with Iowa John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center Advisory Board Members. Live jazz and Afro-Caribbean music will be played and hors d’oeuvres will be served.
