Sunday, August 14, 2022

Beginning Sunday, August 14, 2022, through August 17, 2022, the Iowa Edge program welcomes over 150 new African American, Alaskan Native, American Indian, Asian American, Pacific Islander, Latina/o/x, first-generation, and LGBTQ+ college beginning their journey at the University of Iowa, with approximately one-third of our participants being transfer students.

New students will interact with faculty and campus leaders who will support them during their college experience, build community with a group of peers before the semester begins, and develop leadership skills for success in class, on campus, and in life over the four days of the program.

Iowa Edgers will participate in various activities, including challenge courses, touring university buildings like the Campus Wellness and Recreation Center, learning how to use services like CAMBUS, and participating in panel discussions with UI faculty and staff.  The four-day program is capped off with a closing banquet at Hancher Auditorium.  Check out the schedule here.

New this year is "Day 5", a program where the Edgers are invited to have a mentor-mentee relationship with their Iowa Edge Peer Leader for the entirety of their first year as a Hawkeye.  This will include specialized programming over the academic year to support each student.
