Local community members, UI international scholars, and students staying on campus during the fall break are invited to join IP staff to celebrate community and a traditional holiday meal. The Fall Break Meal will take place Monday, November 21, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. (CST) in 1117 University Capitol Centre (with a grab-and-go option available from 2 to 2:30 p.m.).

“This is a time of year in the U.S. when we give thanks for all the things we have which ideally don’t come with a price tag: good food, good company, and a good time," said Associate Director of International Student & Scholar Services Michael Bortscheller. "We hope that students and members of the Iowa City community will join us to share these good things in life and to be thankful for them as well.”

The meal will feature turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetarian stuffing, macaroni and cheese, green bean casserole, dinner rolls, hot apple cider, sweet potato pie, apple pie, and pumpkin pie.

Space is limited, please only register if you intend to attend.

Sponsored by International Programs, the Center for Academic and Inclusive Excellence, and the Office of the Dean of Students, this event is also made possible, in part, due to the generosity of UI alumna Bev Brandau, whose endowment seeks to support programs that directly facilitate interactions between international students and the community.

In addition to the November 21 meal, a second meal opportunity (only open to current UI students) will be held on November 23, from 5 to 7 p.m., in 2750 University Capitol Center, featuring a taco bar and a grab-and-go option. See the "student registration" link for details.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact Shuhui Lin in advance at shuhui-lin@uiowa.edu or 319-335-0335.
