To our students, faculty, and staff,

We have understandably received concerns from members of our community on the tragic acts of violence in Colorado, Virginia, and Utah. While the university is closed, we may have students, faculty, and staff who have questions, need our resources, or express their feelings. 

We will follow the Board of Regents Policy 4.2 (letter I) as an institution. We will not publish a statement respecting each individual’s right to exercise their freedom of speech on this or any issue.

The Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion does have resources to help members of the university community work through challenging times.  Please share my email, elizabeth-tovar@uiowa.edu, with anyone who wants to talk, share their concerns, or ask for help.
