The University of Iowa’s International Programs office produces a series of 10 pre-arrival webinars for incoming students that provide information about being successful at UI and life in Iowa City and the U.S.
A select group of first-year students from rural Iowa communities is learning about research as Rural Scholars. The program was created five years ago by Scott Shaw, associate professor of chemistry, who wasn’t exposed to research as an undergraduate.
University of Iowa PhD student Dwain Coleman talks about how in the 1800s, free and once-captive African Americans came together in what were called Colored Conventions. Coleman is involved in the first pilot satellite partner of the acclaimed national Colored Conventions Project.
