Biography

Katie Frank Carl is an experienced attorney skilled in Investigations, Legal Writing, Constitutional Law, Higher Education, Employment Law, Title IX, and Civil Rights Compliance. She earned her bachelor’s degree at Creighton University and her law degree at the University of Iowa College of Law. She currently serves as the Senior Equity Investigator in the Equity Investigations Unit.

Prior to her time at Iowa, Katie was a Public Defender for the State of Iowa. There she represented indigent clients in criminal cases that ranged from indictable misdemeanors to Class A felonies. She has presented at legal seminars on topics including motion practice and deposition techniques. She is certified as a Civil Rights Investigator & Title IX Hearing Advisor by ATIXA.

Katie is a former college athlete, and she currently serves as a staff representative on the University of Iowa’s Presidential Committee on Athletics. She also teaches as an adjunct professor at the University of Iowa College of Law. In her spare time, Katie enjoys being active and outdoors. She has completed two marathons, and hopes to add to that list.
