Ken earned his masters of science in Educational Leadership from Western Illinois University and his bachelors of arts in Art from Monmouth College. Prior to his current role Ken was the manager of student equity and Title IX coordinator for the Cedar Rapids Community School District. Within his student affairs career Ken served as the director of Intercultural Life and Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) at Cornell College. Additionally Ken worked at Monmouth College as the assistant director of residence life and coordinator of intercultural life.
Ken’s equity journey has led him to spend some time working for the Arc of East Central Iowa as a direct service provider. Ken also worked for the non-profit Diversity Focus. There he was among the first Diversity Focus fellows, where he served as a liaison between the corridor community and Diversity Focus. Currently Ken serves as a volunteer commissioner for the Iowa Commission on the Status of African Americans in Iowa. Ken is a qualified administrator of the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI). He uses this assessment tool to help groups and individuals achieve their intercultural goals.
In his spare time Ken enjoys movies, traveling and sports. He is a self-proclaimed Hip-Hop head, comic book enthusiast and lover of laughter.
