Latinx Youth Summit

Save the date: 2019 Latinx Youth Summit takes place on October 17, 2019, 8 PM to 2 PM, at University of Iowa.

The Latinx Youth Summit is part of the 21st Annual “Strengthening and Valuing Latinx Communities in Iowa” conference to be held in Iowa City, Iowa. The youth summit attracts over 300 high school students from around the state. The Latinx Youth Summit is coordinated by the Center for Diversity & Enrichment and the University of Iowa School of Social Work. Want to learn more? For many years we have partnered with the Latinx Excellence in the Midwest Conference to attract professionals and talent across Iowa. This year's Latinx Excellence in the Midwest Conference will take place on October 12th, 2019. For more information, please visit the conference website.

Workshop Proposals

Important Information About Workshop Proposals

AUDIENCE:  Summit participants include 9th -12th grade high school youth, educational advisors, community members, and community organizations. The summit is a multiracial/multinational event; participants speak multiple languages and interpretation can be provided for summit events in both English and Spanish if requested. 

LENGTH OF PRESENTATIONS: Please note that the workshops are 45-50 minutes in length.

STIPENDS:  All presenters receive complimentary registration to the summit, which includes meals and activities.  As a general rule, the Latinx Youth Summit does not provide payment to presenters. 

ACCESSIBILITY: Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to participate in the Latinx Youth Summit and accommodations will be provided upon request.  If you are a person with a disability who requires an accommodation in order to participate in this program, please contact Blanca Ramirez at and/or Sarah Lambert at

SUBMISSION INFORMATION:  Proposals for conference workshops are due by August 16th. Proposals will be reviewed and you will be notified by August 30th of its acceptance. You can submit your proposal through this online form.
