Training and Education

The Division for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion provides a number of opportunities for faculty, staff, and students to increase their cultural knowledge and skills for contributing to a welcoming, inclusive, and equitable campus community.  On this page, you'll find links to our workshops and initiatives, as well as information about other relevant training opportunities on campus.

In-Person Opportunities

Every academic year, the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion provides professional development opportunities through Learning and Development. The training sessions could be connected to a development series, such as Supervising at Iowa or the Advanced Management Series. Sessions could be part of campus-wide certificate programs like Building University of Iowa Leadership for Diversity or Building Our Global Community from International Student and Scholar Services. Feel free to check out training offerings through Learning and Development's "My Training" portal in Employee Self-Service.

If you are a student or community member and wish to attend any of the training sessions provided, feel free to email to ask about how you can get involved!

If you would like to request a training, speaker, or panelist for your college, department, or area, please complete the Service Request Form. Requests are reviewed bi-weekly and are fulfilled on a first-come, first-serve basis. As the training team has limited capacity to support the numerous training requests each year, please allow for ample time to plan for your service.

We have begun to collect helpful articles, books, and videos for your learning. Check out our searchable database here: Searchable Database. Want to add a resource? Feel free to send us an email at and we can get it added!
