We hope you are taking care of yourselves and staying safe and healthy. We appreciate all of your additional efforts and continued engagement during this time.We wanted to share an update that in lieu of in-person workshops and events, Diversity Resources is offering a variety of free, virtual ways to engage.
BUILD Virtual Cohorts
BUILD Virtual Cohorts is the newest program offered out of the Building University of Iowa Leadership for Diversity initiative. This six-week series will engage participants in the guided completion of their BUILD certificate. Participants will complete 13 hours of training, including guided conversations with fellow cohort members and a certified cultural intelligence coach. Learn more about BUILD Virtual Cohorts here.
Connecting Hawkeyes Across Technology (CHAT) Sessions
Join your colleagues in impactful conversations about the nuances of identity, advocacy, and social justice. Our new Summer Social Justice Reading Group happens every Friday from 1:00pm CST to 2:00pm CST. These virtual sessions will cover free-to-read books and/or publications that are available broadly or through the UI Libraries. Learn more about the Summer Social Justice Reading Group here.
Each week will focus on a different topic and provide various medium options to engage. Available options include engaging with one of our listening, reading, or viewing groups. The topics include: ability, class/socioeconomic status, gender/gender expression, race, and sexuality/sexual orientation. Learn more about Virtual Discussions here.
Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all University of Iowa–sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in these programs, please contact Diversity Resources in advance at 319-353-2388 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
