Biography

Alaá (she/her/hers) is an Educational Support Specialist the Office of Access and Support. She earned her B.A in Political Science at the University of Toledo in 2021, and graduated with her M.Ed in Student Affairs from Iowa State University in 2023. At ISU, she worked as an Equity/Social Justice Coordinator for the Margaret Sloss Center for Women and Gender Equity, a Live-In Graduate Assistant for Multicultural Student Affairs, as well as at the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Engagement.

 

Like many of our scholars, Alaá is a first-generation student; she is driven towards equity work in student affairs by utilizing her salient identities and pedagogical values to connect and further support students in the cultivation of their growth and development. Aside from being an Academic Coach to scholars, Alaá also aides in coordinating programs like Week of Welcome, Community of Color, and Graduation. In her free time, Alaá enjoys traveling and discovering new music.
