Katie Licht

John Deere Scholars High School Program Director
Biography

After graduating from Western University with a degree in elementary education, Katie Licht has spent her entire career in the Davenport Community School District since 2011. She began teaching fourth grade at Monroe Elementary and moved to first grade at Buchanan Elementary in 2014. While teaching, she realized the significant impact of circumstances outside the school day on student learning. This realization motivated her to pursue a master’s degree in counseling at Western Illinois University’s Quad City campus.

In 2017, Licht completed her degree and became a counselor at Davenport North High School. For the past two years, she has led the counseling department. Over her six years at North, a key focus has been helping students envision their futures, despite the challenges they face. This focus led her to become the program manager of the John Deere Scholars Program at the University of Iowa, supporting high school students in the Davenport Community School District.

Outside of her professional life, Licht is married to her husband, Joey, and is the mother of 5-year-old triplets, Lincoln, Dominic, and Callie. Recently, the family moved to a farm and started a new business venture, LDC Property Maintenance, LLC.
