BUILD, LGBTQ+ Safe Zone and NCBI workshops now open to UI faculty, staff, postdocs, graduate, and professional students.
Tuesday, August 29, 2023

All sessions are voluntary, application-based, and first-come, first-serve for UI faculty, staff, postdocs, graduate, and professional students.

Register for workshops through the Employee Self-Service ‘My Trainings’ portal. Workshops will be offered in person and virtually.

The following series will be offered for free in multiple sections:

  • Building University of Iowa Leadership for Diversity (BUILD) Certificate Program: This initiative is an opportunity to gain strategic knowledge and skills to contribute to a welcoming and inclusive environment.
  • LGBTQ+ Safe Zone Project: This campus-wide program offers a visible message of belonging to the LGBTQ+ community.
  • National Coalition Building Institute (NCBI): This campus-wide program works through a coalition-building model to provide leadership training to remove all forms of prejudice and discrimination.

If you cannot attend a workshop or are interested in department/program-specific training instead, you can submit a training request here.

We are happy to customize training to meet the needs of your department or program. These are great options for staff meetings, leadership orientations, staff development, and more.

Hawkeyes can also access the self-guided “Cultivating Inclusive Communities” online learning experience, which works to develop faculty and staff awareness, knowledge, skills, and self-confidence to engage across differences with integrity and empathy, effectively fostering an inclusive campus community that embraces diversity.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact ddei-iesi@uiowa.edu. We hope to see you soon!
