University of Iowa’s Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DDEI) is excited to announce a new addition to its senior leadership team. Isandra Martínez-Marrero will join the division on August 1, 2022, as the director of cultural engagement and analytics.

Isandra will steward programs, necessary conversations, and policy improvements to develop short- and long-term strategies to increase engagement while providing administrative oversight on campus climate surveys. She will also assist the division in building platforms for candid campus stories to shape the institution's positive learning and working environments.

“We are very excited to have Isandra join our team to help shape the culture of our campus,” said Dr. Liz Tovar.  “This position is unique, and in Isandra, we have the person who can work to connect with our community and help to build transformative programs aligned with our new strategic plan.”

Martínez-Marrero joins the Division with over 15 years of experience in higher education, professional development, and online teaching and learning.  Since 2008, Isandra has served the University of Iowa as a lead instructional designer with Distance and Online Education, where she co-led the Instructional Design team and facilitated the Design4Online faculty development program. Prior to this time, Isandra served as an instructional designer in the College of Public Health at the University of Iowa and as a teaching assistant at the College of Education at the University of Northern Iowa.
